BRITISH SECURITY AWARDS 2023 PRESENTERS

Nick Ross CBE

Broadcaster and BSIA President

 

The BSIA is really pleased to announce that this year's British
Secur
ity Awards 
will be hosted our President, broadcaster
Nick Ross CBE.


Starting as a junior reporter while still at university, Nick covered the Northern Ireland troubles for the BBC and moved to host programmes such as Radio 4's The World at One, PM and The World Tonight. He became a TV reporter, documentary director, political correspondent and chaired live debates, but was best known for the crime appeals programme Crimewatch, which he presented for over two decades. He conceived the new discipline of Crime Science which focuses on practical, multidisciplinary and outcome-focused approaches to crime reduction, and he founded the Jill Dando Institute at UCL which has grown into one of the largest academic crime prevention departments in the world. He has served on several government crime prevention committees and has advised Victim Support and the National Police Chiefs Council.

Nick has been involved in several other community safety initiatives, notably in road accident reduction and fire safety, and has a long interest in healthcare and public understanding of science.

 

 

Assistant Chief Constable Jayne Meir

West Midlands Police

Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) Jayne Meir started her policing
career within the Metropolitan Police in 1996. During her time
here, she was involved in numerous operations, including
supporting the response to the July 7 2005 terrorist atta
cks and
coordinating Counter Terrorism policing for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

After 20 years’ service within the Metropolitan Police, ACC Meir transferred to West Midlands Police in 2016 to become the local policing commander for Wolverhampton. She then became Director of Intelligence in 2018, before being appointed as an ACC in May 2019.

Jayne will be presenting the awards for Public and Industry Bravery and the Police Partnership Initiative.

 

Simon Banks

Managing Director, CSL Group/Chairman, BSIA
 

Simon is Managing Director of CSL Group, a global provider of
connectivity solutions. As Chair of the BSIA, Simon aims to provide
strategic leadership, working in line with the advancing technology
and changing attitudes in security to build the BSIA membership
and bring about a deeper talent pool for the industry.

Simon will be presenting the Chairman's Award.
