From 2023, Best Newcomer has been presented in memory of our industry colleague, Gaby Hutchinson.

Gaby, who worked as a dog handler, was on duty with their dog Coco on the night of the Asake concert on 15 December 2022 and was caught up in the ensuing incident, tragically losing their life four days later. 

​

The Best Newcomer category, which celebrates a new security operative who has shown outstanding promise in their chosen career, is awarded to the winner of the regional finalists from the security personnel categories of the British Security Awards. 

 

Gaby played a vital role doing a job that they loved. It is our duty in honour of their memory for us to keep Gaby’s name alive and for their contribution to always be remembered by presenting this particular award in their name.​
